Naomi…my oldest, my first born, my crazy one. I tell people all the time that my children are crazy. I don’t mean their certifiably crazy and that they need to go to the looney bin but I do mean that they are crazy. They start out calm and sweet and melt your heart and then they turn 18 months old and something happens. I’m not exactly sure what it is that happens but it’s something. Naomi started talking in sentences at 18 months old and she hasn’t stopped since. She is FULL of energy and hits the ground running in the morning. She LOVES to sing and dance and perform for anyone who will sit still long enough to watch. She will watch a cartoon or a movie and then start acting it out and if you’re in the room you’ve got a part whether you want to play or not. She’s not afraid of expressing herself and we’re working on her tact. She loves to be with her family and recently decided that she didn’t like to do things alone…except for when she needs some “girl time”. She’s hilarious and I’m always waiting for the next “quote of the day” to come out of her mouth. She has a deep love for Jesus and is very concerned when she finds out that not everyone believes in Jesus. She has a heart for others and is concerned only for herself too. She is an amazing little lady and we’re so blessed to have her in our lives. Wouldn’t want to imagine my life without my sweet Naomi. Here are a few random moments that I captured the other day after dinner.

I love browsing other photographers websites. It is a great place for inspiration. Sometimes the ideas come easily and sometimes you just have share ideas. Photographers are known for sharing ideas. But along with sharing ideas comes proper credit. The inspiration for this photo of Hannah came from Andrea Burns Photography out of Maryland. She grabbed a shot of William like this and I couldn’t wait till Hannah was sitting so I could also try this shot. The only thing I’m not crazy about is the lighting on Hannah’s left side. I still have not unpacked m reflector so I wasn’t able to bring much light to that side. I did have my big helper holding up a white sheet and it only helped a little bit. So, if you’re browsing websites and find an image that inspires you bookmark it or send me a link and we can try and recreate the image with your child or family, or senior or at your wedding. The sky is the limit!

As I am getting ready for the re-launch of JT Photography in Jackson I am still taking lots of photographs and getting more and more practice.
I have been blessed to be able to photograph my children and practice new techniques in editing my photos as well.
I am really trying to strike a balance of how I can let my subject shine through as well as share my own personal style.

I finally got around to taking Micah’s three year old photos (he turned 3 at the beginning of April).
I was originally going to go downtown to the train depot but when it came time for the photo shoot time was not on my side.
Since I’d never been to the train depot and didn’t know where it was I decided against going there (maybe next year for his 4th).
My neighbor had suggested going to Union University for some photos of her son and his cousin (which was cancelled because of rain)
and so I thought I would take Micah there. I knew right where to go, the location was pretty and he’d have room to run and be himself.

I’m very happy with how the photos turned out and what a great little model he is.
Even when we had to stop in the middle of the shoot to use the “bathroom” he was up for more photos after that and just kept giving me lots to work with.
I love this little man so much and am amazed by him on a daily basis. He brings us so much joy and laughter.

Here are a few of my favorites. You can see the rest on my photography facebook page!

I asked Micah if he could jump off the bench, he said yeah and then this is what he did…

This is how the boy points, he always closes one eye and looks directly at what he is pointing to.

You may or may not remember this sweet little lady from her newborn session, this is my niece Kiley. She is about to turn one. Now that we live closer to family we are able to spend random weekends with them. Holly and Gene came down this past weekend to visit. While they were here I thought we should take advantage of the time and get a one year session in for this sweet little lady. The session almost didn’t happen because the weather was not great. But right before bath time I took this sweetie outside for about ten minutes and grabbed a few fun shots of her for her first year session. It only lasted ten minutes because it was a little chilly outside and the ground was wet so our options were not many. But I am very happy with the shots I did get of Kiley and I think they’ll be a great way for her family to remember this time in her life and for her to look back on and see herself as a one year old!!

Thanks Holly and Gene for letting me capture this special time in Kiley’s life. I hope you are pleased with how the photos turned out…and even in such a short amount of time! Can’t wait to hear what you think!

While we try to teach our children all about life,

Our children teach us what life is all about.
