As a mother, my job is to take care of the possible and trust God with the impossible.
~ Ruth Bell Graham

Behold, children are a heritage from the Lord,
the fruit of the womb a reward.
-Psalm 127:3
Hear, O Israel: The Lord our God, the Lord is one.
Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength.
These commandments that I give you today are to be upon your hearts.
Impress them on your children.
Talk about them when you sit at home and when you walk along the road,
and when you lie down and when you get up.
Tie them as symbols on your hands and bind them on your foreheads.
Write them on the door frames of your houses and on your gates.
Deuteronomy 6:4-9

When I saw that the challenge for the i heart faces photo this week was “smile”
I knew exactly what photo I wanted to share.
I realize I just posted this here the other day as my first photo
for the MCP Actions Project 52….
but that’s okay…it’s just such a great photo…of some of my favorite people.
You can read more about this photo and why it is SO special to me in this post.

I love the IDEA of a 365 photography project,
taking a photo every single day of the year…
but I know that I will never actually make it happen.
So, when I saw that MCP Actions was hosting a Project 52
I realized that was more my pace and style…
so I’m joining in.
The suggestion for the first weeks photo is
“something around the house”
Well, my parents were around my house for two weeks,
then they drove to California to spend three weeks with my brother and his family,
before leaving for 18 months to teach English in Indonesia.
I’m so excited for them, what an incredible opportunity!
Yes, we’re going to miss them lots around here too,
so I got the kids and grammy and papa to do a quick little mini session with me
before grammy and papa had to leave.
And here’s my favorite shot from the session.
I’ll share a few more at another time.

To start out the new year {i heart faces} is hosting the best face of 2010 contest.
I had a ton of fun face photos to choose from (mostly faces of my cute kiddos)
I had to choose from some cute newborn photos of Hannah,
some great shots of all three kids in November from our Christmas card photo shoot,
I had some awesome shots of Naomi from her 4 year old mini session
but the one that I chose as my best face of 2010 photo
is this photo of Micah doing his Buzz Lightyear face.
Micah wanted to be Buzz for Halloween,
we thought we had a costume for him that belonged to his cousins,
(Aunt Holly, Aunt Dana and Grandma were coming to Texas for Hannah’s baptism on Halloween)
but when Aunt Holly made it to Texas she told us she wasn’t able to find the Buzz costume,
but she had found the Woody costume so we talked Micah into being Woody.
He was okay with being Woody but we could tell he was a little bummed,
and wouldn’t you know it the first kid we saw while trick-or-treating was wearing
a Buzz costume.
Well, after Aunt Dana got home from spending time with us
she found a Buzz costume in her local grocery store at a great discount.
She bought it for Micah and put it in the box with the kids Christmas presents.
As soon as Micah saw the Buzz costume he put it on and wore it the whole time he opened presents.
When I ask Micah to be Buzz this is the face he makes….
it cracks me up and just reminds me of how fun and funny my kids are.
They know how to have a great time,
they know how to make me laugh,
they know how to love life,
and when I look at this face, and this kid,
I’m reminded to not take life too seriously and to enjoy every moment!
That’s why this is my favorite face from 2010…
although I do love my girls just as much as this goofy boy!
You can help me out by voting for little Buzz Lightyear after Tuesday on the i heart faces website!
Buzz Lightyear is #663 so go vote for him!!
